October 2008 Newsletter

“when He hears it, He will answer you.”  Isaiah 30:19.”

- Isaiah 30:19

Contrary to my spring plans, Rose and I have just completed four months of scheduled concerts.  Because of your prayers and God’s strength, the goal is accomplished.  “I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.”  Phil 1:14 Heaven is still ahead of me so the journey continues and with joy I carry on.

My intention this spring was to schedule every other month, but somehow that changed.  Our monthly income dropped by thirty percent and I realized I must do my part in meeting our obligations.  Together, much is accomplished and with your continued prayer and financial support, our final three months of 2008 will finish strong.

The past summer mission field extended from Saskatchewan to Southern Illinois and our travels have been bathed in prayer, your prayers.  God who provided the Apostle Paul with hope on his missionary journeys is the same God who leads faithful pastors, homemakers and even Gospel singers.

John MacArthur writes, “Prayer deepens and enriches our relationship with Almighty God.  He is a loving Father who longs to talk with us each day.”

Pat & Cindy Balentyne Family

Each month our mail arrives with answered prayer from your lives and gratitude to our faithful God.  We share some of these in each newsletter and we rejoice with you.  Even in your greatest loss you are grateful for His love.  “He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry, when He hears it, He will answer you.”  Isaiah 30:19

Our September tour began in Joice, Iowa.  We were welcomed with open arms.  A happy preacher and a congregation with great expectations gave us a night of blessing and challenge.  I prayed with a man regarding a matter in his life.
Pastor Don Myhres
It was off to Lee, Illinois just west of Chicago. My first concert with them was in 1973 as Pastor Don Myhres (Sinai native) welcomed me.  Don is now retired and Pastor Wayne Derber is leading the congregation of Calvary Lutheran in Lee.                                   Pastor Wayne Derber

Bethlehem Lutheran of Morris, Illinois, is pastored by another Sinai lifetime friend, David Skordahl.  Back in 1963 we were led to pray for each other every Wednesday night after Bible study.  Through our conversational prayer time, we committed our futures to the Lord.  A year later, Dave began Bible school in Minneapolis, then to seminary and eventually into the Pastorate.  He and his wife Cheryl have been a blessing to so many and still going strong.                   Pastor David Skordahl

It wasn’t long before Rose and I knew God was calling us to Bible school and into His army of workers.  What a special time in Illinois visiting with two preachers from my home community.

Serving the Lord and thankful for our partners, Roy &  Rose

FROM OUR MAIL BOX & E-MAILS:
“Sounds like you two have not slowed up much.  Really do enjoy your letters.  Only eternity will tell how many lives you hare touched and won for Jesus.  Keep up the good work, but do take care of yourselves, also.  The older we get the harder it is to keep up the pace.  I know only too well.”  ND

“How wonderful to meet you for breakfast.  We loved seeing you and having a time to share.  You both looked great and eager to keep moving on.  How we love you.  Maybe we can get out to SD for a visit.  Take care of yourselves, get some rest and lean on the power of God.  Our love,” MN

“Just finished reading your newsletter and had to get the Kleenex out.  Good grief!!  The impact you and your ministry has on individuals is so touching and we all thank the Lord for your walk of obedience.  What a team you two have been over the years, 47 to be exact!!  Congratulations” CO

“I never feel alone.  I have the Lord at my side and on my mind – and Roy Hope voice
in my days.  Just as Bud always did, you make my days as were when he was here.
Your tapes were even being played as he was preparing to enter the Kingdom.  He left in style.”  MN

“I love your last newsletter.  What a beautiful family.  Aren’t we blessed?  I continue to pray for you as you travel and minister – for safety, good health, strong voice as you give out the word in song and speech.  God is so good!  I know, I love Him more and more each day!  He is opening so many exciting opportunities for me to come along side women who are hurting.  I praise Him!”  MN

Your Sept. letter is about as good as it gets!!  Thanks so much to the ones that put this together for the one who thought of the idea.  The ones in the pictures (those kids are just priceless) and to Roy and Rose

who made all those memories of life so special with the touch and feel of Jesus in everyday life.  We just love all of you and say thanks to all for the sacrifice to be obedient in following Christ’s plan for your family in serving “Him”.  Much love and gratefulness.  You will all always be special to us, as well as to Him”.  Love and prayers be with you always.”  MN

Our 2009 Christian Engagement Calendar is ready for shipping.  We agree with many of our partners as it is a wonderful calendar with verses and pictures to remind us of what God can do.  Please enclose the return card with your sacrificial gift and we thank you so much for lifting our spirits as we complete the final quarter of 2008.
